Sign up for our first harvest at Asante Microfarm!

Writer: Jamiah HarginsJamiah Hargins

Thanks for the support during our grand opening on Saturday. We are already nearing our first harvest, of which 10% will be donated to the community fridges down in Leimert Park.

And for those living within 2 miles of the microfarm, memberships for weekly vegetable green mixes are available right now on our website... there is a limited amount so act fast! We believe we can serve 35 families with the 600 plants that are growing at Asante Microfarm, and we have about 1/3 of those memberships reserved as of yet.

It costs $36 per month for a weekly pick up, or $43 per month for delivery. It includes at least 1 lb of organically grown leafy greens and herbs, and we expect this first harvest will be more than a pound as we gradually integrate our systems and membership volume. Once we reach full membership, the food will be split evenly among members and the weight will vary.

Days for pickup are on Wednesdays or Sundays at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., or 12:00 p.m. You will select your preferred day and time when signing up! The address is 4603 Angeles Vista Boulevard, View Park, CA.

Days for delivery are on Sundays between 9:00 and 12:00 p.m.

This Sunday 4/11 is our first harvest, including bok choy, tatsoi collard greens, romaine lettuce, red curly lettuce, and a variety of others. Please note that we fully intend to work without plastics one day, and are working on smarter packaging for that in the future weeks to come.

Do you live outside of this service area, but would still like to support us? Please visit our website and consider booking the garden consultation, or buying authentic Crop Swap LA and Captain Plant It merchandise! We hope to create additional microfarms around Los Angeles one day soon.

It's amazing to be at this stage in our progress to create nutrient-dense food on unused spaces and green jobs for people in our own neighborhoods. Thank you so much for coming along on this journey with us, and we appreciate your trust and support for the rest of the journey.

We Grow Food On Unused Spaces

Growing Communities, Inc. dba Crop Swap LA ™

We acknowledge the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles basin and So. Channel Islands). We pay our respects to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘Eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.

They are the First Peoples of the region, their lands were unceded, they did not negotiate a treaty with Mexico or the US government.

Today, the First Peoples of Los Angeles struggle every day for their sovereignty.
