Prosperity Market

Writer's picture: Crop Swap LA Crop Swap LA

Carmen and Kara of @Prosperitymarket have been working diligently for the last year creating an amazing pop-up Farmers Market that features Black owned businesses that create healthy products and food. The vibe at the market is purely positive, inspirational, and guaranteed to brighten your day (maybe even your entire week). The Crop Swap LA Team is always honored and delighted to be included and in the company of such amazing vendors.

During the pandemic there was much needed attention brought not only to police brutality, but also to the huge economic disparity between Black Americans and White Americans. Many pledged to become allies, shared books from historic Black authors, and also put black squares in their social media platforms. Unfortunately, that enthusiasm waned. Black business owners still need support, not just from within their community, but also from other races. Being a business owner is difficult, being a Black business owner in the United States is arduous.

Hope to see you Saturday, have a great weekend!

We Grow Food On Unused Spaces

Growing Communities, Inc. dba Crop Swap LA ™

We acknowledge the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles basin and So. Channel Islands). We pay our respects to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘Eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging.

They are the First Peoples of the region, their lands were unceded, they did not negotiate a treaty with Mexico or the US government.

Today, the First Peoples of Los Angeles struggle every day for their sovereignty.
